Borja co-founded Abac Capital in 2014. Before co-founding Abac Capital, he worked at Apax Partners for 13 years as a Partner in the tech & telecom team globally and as a generalist covering the Spanish market since 2004. Prior to joining Apax Partners, he was a Summer Associate at Goldman Sachs and an Associate at The Boston Consulting Group. Borja holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Boston), where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
Joan Pina is a Serial Entrepreneur who has been part of Abac Capital since 2017. Together with Borja and Rubén Bonet, Joan is one of the promoters of Abac Nest. Prior to Abac Nest, Joan founded four digital companies, including a fintech and insurtech company, and was one of the leading shareholders in LetsBonus (acquired by an Amazon subsidiary: Living Social) where he held the position of CEO . Previously, he developed his professional career at PwC in New York, Dublin and Barcelona. Joan has a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Barcelona and participated in a PwC Executive Development program at the IESE Business School. Joan is a fan of long distance Triathlons and passionate about learning about new business models.
Rubén has been one of the driving forces behind Abac Nest since its inception. Rubén is the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Fractus since 1999, one of the most successful deep tech companies in Europe, specialized in global wireless and telecom industries, named a Technology Pioneer in 2005 by the World Economic Forum. Since 2016. He is also a Chairman and Board Member of IP Europe, representing European SMEs. Rubén has extensive experience leading a start-up towards scale-up, with high-level international fundraising and in particular in start-ups with a high technological component due to his experience and network in Deep Tech. Author of the book on entrepreneurship ‘Fractus , the phoenix’, Rubén is a fan of Endurance sports, having completed a Marathon des Sables.
Prior to joining Abac Nest, Marta developed her professional career as an Investment Director at BStartup (Banco Sabadell), an investment vehicle for early-stage startups. Prior to BStartup, Marta worked as the Manager of the Business Angels Network and as Director of Entrepreneurship at ESADE Business School. Marta holds a Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and an Executive MBA at ESADE Business School.
Anna joined Abac Capital full-time in 2019 after completing her internship. Prior to joining Abac Capital, she interned at Ulabox, an e-commerce start-up, and in a non-profit organisation in Peru. Anna holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Barcelona) and did her exchange programme at the University of British Columbia (Canada), where she specialised in Sustainability.
Tristán Conde graduated from Global Governance, Economics & Legal Order from ESADE (Barcelona) and completed his exchange program at Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) where he specialized in business finance. Additionally, he attended specialized programs in Paris, France and Boston, United States. After interning at Abac Capital, he joined the Abac Nest team to further delve into his passion for startup innovation.

In February 2021, Abac certified as a B Corporation. B Corps are organisations that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. We are proud to be part of a community envisioning a global economy that uses business as a force for good.
We implement the B Impact Assessment tool at the underlying portfolio to help companies improve their impact targets and advance towards certification.
UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)
Abac is a signatory of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and is committed to its six Principles. Since 2016, we annually report our responsible investment practices to the organisation and have obtained a maximum score of A+ in our 2020 Assessment.
SFDR
We are an Art. 8 Fund under EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.
We pursue the improvement of ESG performance in the portfolio during the investment period.
UN Global Compact
Abac and portfolio companies are signatory members of the United Nations Global Compact Initiative and are committed to its ten principles. In July 2021, Abac was appointed Silver Signatory member in recognition of our effort to onboard portfolio companies to the initiative.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
During the investment period we focus on understanding how our investments impact and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Although we consider all Sustainable Development Goals through our investment decisions, at Abac we strive to focus our sustainability efforts on impacting the following topics across all our portfolio companies.
Task Force Climate Related Financial Disclosures
Since March 2020, we are supporters of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures which was established by the Financial Stability Board to improve disclosure on climate-related risks and opportunities.
Abac Nest II FCRE
is registered and regulated in Spain with the CNMV. The fund is classified under Article 8 EU SFDR Regulation and supports ambitious, purpose-driven entrepreneurs to redefine industries to be more sustainable.
